Iris is a startup tech company with a mission to serve seniors and caretakers by connecting them to services, resources, partners and community.

We wanted to make the Iris experience welcoming, and created the friendly Iris avatar shown above as the brand ambassador. “Iris” appears whenever the brand is speaking to the users, including site dialogs, and also has her own advice module. Iris went through various ages, looks and styles before a universally preferred version solidified the entire brand direction.

Reaching Seniors & Caretakers

Spark specializes in health, wellness and Boomer+ customers. We’ve spent time with this group in person, at events, focus groups, and studied information to learn how to better reach this audience. If you’re marketing to this demographic, you may be asking yourself questions like these:

Iris doesn’t just look good, and it’s no mere web site. It’s a scalable technology product built on a modular foundation whose features are actually separate apps that can be used singly or in combination. This allows for scalable customized versions of Iris—in full or a la carte—to be instantly replicated or for individual modules to be ported into partner sites.

 

Central database serves custom combinations of individual apps to clone all or part of the feature set, or to port features into 3rd party properties.

We love implementing the latest and greatest technology and design trends and keeping up with the ever changing marketplace.

 

But that doesn’t work for every demographic. Case in point— seniors, caretakers, Boomers, Active Agers…pretty much 50+. These users have a different perspective. Their interactive and consumption patterns, preferences and behaviors differ from what the marketing we see every day would suggest. We’re not just talking about larger fonts for older eyes, but about the way users absorb content and the way their generational social structure influences the way trust is built. Fascinating! We used our experience to craft a user experience that met with excitedly high approval from target test groups.

In this case, being able to influence the brand personality of the main product gave us the ability to tie things together and present a singular voice; a vital achievement when building a community.
